The photograph
When I walk around Porto, I often notice small places that would be easy to pass by. That evening I was not looking for a particular photograph. I was walking with my camera when the warm window of a lighting shop made me stop. Among the grey stone and narrow streets, its light stood out.
I took one frame. Looking at the photograph later, it was the layers that drew me in: the glass lamps, their reflections and the darker space behind them. Your eye moves from one lamp to the next, and you do not notice everything at once. For me, this photograph holds the warmth of a Porto evening, even though it shows just one shop window.
On a wall, the orange light against the dark background is what you notice first from a distance. Up close, the lines of the glass and the reflections come into view. That is what keeps me returning to this photograph.
Where this photograph was made
I photographed the window of a lighting shop on Rua de Ramalho Ortigão, near number 53, in Porto, Portugal. You can explore the location yourself and compare the street view with the small part I chose to include in the frame.

Matte or glossy photo paper?
Both finishes use the same photograph and the same edit. The choice changes the surface sheen and the way light and colour appear in your room. If you are unsure, choose matte. It is the default option for this print.
Matte: a quieter surface with less glare
Matte suits a photograph viewed from different angles in a room with several light sources. Its surface scatters reflections more, and the orange light appears softer. Choose it for a living room or workspace if you prefer a wall print with a more understated surface.
Glossy: a stronger impression of colour and contrast
On glossy paper, the orange tones and dark areas in this photograph can appear more intense. The glass and the lamps' reflections stand out more clearly. It works well when you can position the picture away from a window or bright lamp directly opposite it. Glossy paper shows reflections and fingerprints more readily, so handle an unframed print by its edges.
The front cover also matters when framing. Matte paper does not make a frame reflection-free. With either finish, avoid direct sunlight and place the picture where a lamp or window will not reflect straight towards the viewer.
Printing and framing
The photograph is produced in a Fuji Frontier photo lab on Fuji Crystal Archive photographic paper. The print measures 30 × 40 cm and comes with a matte or glossy finish.
The black frame option includes the photograph, a slim black aluminium frame and a white mount. The nominal frame size is 40 × 50 cm, with outer dimensions of approximately 41.5 × 51.5 cm. The front cover is lightweight polystyrene plastic. The mount opening measures 29 × 39 cm, covering approximately 5 mm along each edge of the photograph.
The unframed option contains a 30 × 40 cm photographic print. Choose it if you already have a frame or would like to find one to suit your room. The photograph is prepared in a 3:4 format, with the original composition cropped to fit these dimensions.
Production and care
Your photograph is printed after payment. Production and delivery within Estonia take 5 to 10 business days. Display it in a dry indoor space away from direct sunlight. For a framed picture, clean the front cover with a soft cloth, rather than touching the photographic paper.
